Program Development
BNTS
The basis of the development of our Tech School program is that it is co-constructed, applied inquiry based and multi-age, multi-stage.  Enabling partner schools to have an authentic contribution to the development of the program whilst maintaining a coherent and sustainable program is a key consideration. We have designed a series of program ‘prototype’ incubators to be developed with Tech School Ambassadors from each partner Tech School.

The program development group worked on the 5th June to plan out the 3 days of program design for the ‘Incubator’ which occurred on the 19th-21st June at the Greensborough campus of Melbourne Polytechnic. Our Teacher Ambassadors worked through a design thinking process, led by Louka and Maddie from Education Changemakers and also examined the future of work for students in our area.  The teachers developed a ‘compact inquiry’ an ‘pitched’ it to a student panel. It was an enlightening experience and the input and feedback from students throughout the whole process added a whole new dimension to the design of learning.

We left the incubator having achieved some significant outcomes.  We have identified a range of real community problems that students will solve in the Tech School, but also created a powerful network of teachers from our partner schools who will continue to collaborate and grow these opportunities.
