STEAM Around Us: The Growroom
Jasmine
In the spirit of our upcoming Inquiry program, Biodiverse-Cities, and our newly found interest for home growing micro greens (FarmWall Home: Resilience Growing), the Tech School will be building its own Growroom.

The Growroom is a structure enabling urban farming in a sustainable way. Developed in collaboration between Space10, a research and design lab launched by Ikea to investigate new innovative and sustainable ways of living, and architects Mads-Ulrik Husum and Sine Lindholm, the project is open source and available to the public. Using plywood and CNC milling machine, the structure is designed to be affordable, easy to manufacture, easy to build and easy to use. A truly innovative design aiming “to spark conversations about how we can bring nature back into our cities and tackle the increasing demand for significantly more food in the future”. The Growroom will be showcased in our internal courtyard at Banyule Nillumbik Tech School.

We are looking forward to get started!
